everyone's a closet designer

well, I think I have finally come to terms with my dirty little secret. I REALLY want to be able to do 'design'... sadly, I am not very good ;o(
but then again, most people aren't.

Serioulsy, anyone who has ever worked in a team environment and had to suffer thru meeting where EVERYONE wants to tell the designer what to do, can understand this. I did a lot of soul searching and meditating until at long last I was able to let go of the urge to control the design on projects I was working on. However, as a freelancer and specifically as a flash developer, there are times when a sense of design would really help me out. Emerson says that we can all see beauty, validating armchair designers everywhere. And to some degree it is a TALENT, but it is also a SKILL and that is what I would like to develop. The Skill.

So now it is out, I am attempting to 'design' my own website's homepage.
Stay tuned...

dis ease

what is this thing in me that is incomplete without some gadget, gizmo, trinket...
I know what addiction feels like and this is very close to it (denial). My financial outlook depends on my work. The quality of my output depends on the ability of my hardware to keep up with my wetware. Not to brag, but my wetware is capable of doing the work and complaining about how the hardware is holding me back. But would a faster cpu, a faster drive, more memory truly improve the quality of my output... or would it increase the inertia, sending my careening through dead-end ideas, smashing thru barracades only to be reeled back in later. Lost and disoriented, like I feek right now.

wiki-world-yearbook

create an (ad-supported) site where people are encouraged to scan their entire yearbook and post it. People are encouraged to form working groups. We'll start with 100 year books (from my friends and family)... perhaps some sort of scanner giveaway. Or better yet a partnership with online retailer to swap ad impressions for member discounts.

throw in a Blog.. and a PhPBB... to let teh community support itself.
